Studio Policies

Studio Policies

1. General Studio Conduct

  • Respect the Space: Treat the studio, equipment, and fellow artists with respect. Leave  your workspace cleaner than you found it.
  • Noise Levels: Keep the studio atmosphere focused and calm. Take phone calls      outside, and please use headphones for personal music or media.
  • Guest Policy: Guests are not permitted in the active workspace without prior      approval from the studio manager.

2. Cleanliness & Dust Control

  • Protect Your Lungs: Dry sanding creates hazardous airborne dust. Always use a wet  sponge to wipe down tables, wheels, and tools.
  • Clean As You Go: Leave 15 to 20 minutes at the end of your session for clean-up.      Wash community tools and return them to their proper storage locations.
  • Do not leave tools, brushes or  containers in the sink.

3. Materials & Firing

  • Approved Materials Only: To protect studio equipment and kilns, only clay and glazes provided or approved by the studio may be used. Outside clays run the risk of melting and destroying both your work and the kilns.
  • Identifying Your Work: Every piece placed on the kiln shelves must be clearly      stamped or signed.

4. Safety & Equipment

  • Equipment Use: Do not use equipment you have not been trained on (e.g., slab      rollers, pug mills, or kilns). Ask a staff member for a demonstration      before first use.
  • Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes are always required in the studio. Tie back long      hair and avoid wearing loose, dangling jewelry.

5. Storage & Pick-Up

· Personal Belongings:Clearly mark your personal tools and clay with your name and store in your cubby. The studio is not responsible for lost, broken, or stolen personal items.

  • Stored work: Please complete projects in a timely manner & make sure they      are always labeled & stored in your designated areas.
  • Work Pick-Up: Finished work must be picked up within 30 days of the firing      completion. Work left beyond this timeframe will be discarded or donated      to make room for others.

6. Makeup Policy

· No call, No show = No Makeup.

· You may schedule your makeup during another class time throughout the same week to ensure you do not miss the lesson. In the event that it cannot be made up in the same week it will be converted to an open studio session that must be used within 2 weeks of the end of the session.

· Makeups cannot be used toward another session

7. Open studio sessions

· You will get 1 open studio session per week equal to the number of your class hours. Open studio sessions are non-transferrable and non cumulative.

8. Continuing Students

· Beginning 6/1/2026, we are ending automatic invoicing. All Students will be required to enroll for the next session online. Students will be given advance notice when enrollment opens, and it will be your responsibility to secure your spot for the upcoming session. Spots will be first come, first served.
